Pharmacoepidemiology
Pharmacoepidemiology is the study of the use and effects of drugs in populations. It integrates the medical and clinical details of an underlying disease with the influence of patient factors, concomitant diseases and medications, and the clinical pharmacology of the specific product under study. Pharmacoepidemiology is useful for expanding usage of drugs, determining the cause of adverse reactions, and comparing drugs in the same class. The Weinberg Group applies epidemiology principles particularly in the context of post-marketing surveillance. We provide the following core services:
- Design and critique Phase IV protocols for safety studies performed by industry
- Assess the prevalence and/or incidence of a disease or risk factor
- Identify subgroups of interest
- Estimate effect size and/or study sample size
- Review and interpret study findings
- Design studies and unique statistical analysis approaches
- Review and interpret study findings
- Evaluate idiosyncratic responses
